This year, we’re organising a visit to Dulwich Picture Gallery to see a truly special exhibition: the first-ever UK show dedicated to the paintings of Anna Ancher (1859–1935), one of Denmark’s most pioneering artists.

Ancher is celebrated for her luminous interiors, confident use of colour, and remarkable ability to capture light as it falls across everyday moments. Her work feels both intimate and quietly radical, offering a fresh perspective on late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century painting.

While she is a familiar and much-loved figure in Denmark, Ancher’s work has remained largely unseen in the UK. This landmark exhibition brings together more than 40 paintings spanning her career, including significant loans from The Hirschsprung Collection and Skagens Museum.

Set within the beautiful surroundings of Dulwich Picture Gallery, this is a rare chance to encounter Ancher’s work in depth — and an ideal opportunity to join us for a shared visit, conversation, and looking closely together.
